Legian Beach, Bali

After extending our time in Bali so we could celebrate our first anniversary in our new favorite locale, we began researching other areas of the island we might be interested in seeing. We finally settled on the Seminyak area, but the hotel search led us to a great hotel on the beach in nearby Legian.

We checked several websites for this last minute booking and got aย very good deal on The Bandha Hotel in Legian. It was stunning! Our room was gigantic, the staff left no detail overlooked and the beach was just across the street.

We had two friends who were planning to be in Bali at the same time as us. Little did we know they were waiting for us at our hotel pool bar. As soon as we got to The Bandha the party started… because how often are you in Bali with two of your buddies? We enjoyed the afternoon at the pool’s swim-up bar, making new friends (and a Bear throwing John’s cell phone into the pool) along the way, then made our way to an Italian restaurant for dinner. After dinner, B took us to a cool bar called Ku De Ta (and by cool we actually mean stifling hot because, surprisingly, there was no ocean breeze. Luckily by this time we were used to sweating our faces off in Bali). It was an epic day with our hilarious friends in an unforgettable place… what could be better?

We got back to our hotel pretty late, and by that time I was investigating food delivery services in Bali… don’t ask me how I know this, but McDonald’s deliversย straight to your hotel room. They call it McDelivery. I’ll just leave that there.

The next day our friends took our advice and headed to OK Divers in Padangbai, and we made plans to spend our anniversary in the pool, at the beach and on the massage table (check, check and check).

It was a relaxing day full of memories of our wedding and all the wonderful people in our lives. For dinner I surprised John by taking him to… an INDIAN restaurant!

I don’t know that any future anniversary will be this great, but I’m so glad we rang in year 2 from this magical paradise.

That night we packed our bags and headed to the airport for our late-night flight to Osaka.

    Love you both. Be safe. Love, Mommykins

    Lindsay and John! it’s been so fun catching up and reading about your adventure through Asia–can’t wait to get to the Tokyo and delicious dinner part (;
